21-year-old Lottie Woad from Farnham, Surrey played exceptionally at the ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open, capturing her maiden LPGA Tour title.

The world no.1 amateur golfer has been on top her of game recently having won the KPMG Women’s Irish Open at the beginning of July and narrowly missed out on bagging her first major when she came T3 at the Amundi Evian Championship.

She carried that momentum with her to Dundonald Links over the weekend, starting strong with a 5-under-par opening round of 67. Come the end of Sunday, Woad was leading by 2 strokes on 17-under-par.

Crowds of spectators had turned up to follow the likes of Charlie Hull and Nelly Korda. The world no.1 professional women’s golfer was holding her own in the early stages of the tournament but a poor final round that included 5 bogeys had Korda finish in 5th place.

Knowing she was playing well and that the field was chasing her throughout her third round, Woad admitted she did not look at the leaderboard on the Sunday until she was on the 17th hole. She gave a level-headed response when reflecting on her performance over the weekend:

“It is a pretty good outcome, I guess! I definitely wasn’t expecting to win my first event, but knew I was playing well. I was just hoping to contend and played really solid today. It was pretty nice in the end, being able to lay up on the par five…this is my first time playing links golf since the AIG Women’s Open last year. I wasn’t exactly sure how it would go but it went fine!”

Woad carded just three bogeys all week and boasted an outstanding win by breaking 70 in each of her four rounds, finishing on a phenomenal 21-under-par. With another major opportunity approaching this weekend at the AIG Women’s Open at Royal Porthcawl, who’s to say Lottie Woad won’t make a phenomenal start to her career with back-to-back wins?
