AIG Women's Open 2022

The AIG Women’s Open this week will be our farewell to 2022’s Majors. We’ve all enjoyed a fantastic Major Season to this point, but to finish with a bang feels like a must. Could that mean a British winner? Possibly…

Georgia Hall’s famous victory in 2018 was no fluke – the Englishwoman finishing T3 the year before and T2 last year at Carnoustie. We have extra reason to be pulling for Georgia as her caddie is a local guy, in Joe Miller, and he is well known to us in the shop as he helped set up our Srixon Centre of Excellence last Summer - look out for him on the bag.

Meanwhile, Charley Hull finished T3 at The Evian Championship just a couple weeks ago and Bronte Law’s T6 at the U.S. Women’s Open earlier this year suggests she’ll fancy taking a run at the title. Ireland’s Leona Maguire also has a couple of Major top-tens herself in the last couple of years, as well as a T13 in this tournament last year.

With all that said, Britain & Ireland’s best women will have to overcome the likes of Lydia Ko, Nelly Korda, Jin Young Ko and many more of the game’s leading lights. It won’t be easy, with so many worldwide players bottle-necking at the top of the game (the last five Major Champions have been from five different countries). Still, we can hope!

Do you believe we’ll see a local champion at Muirfield? Let us know what you think will happen and how you’ll be enjoying this year’s final Major by visiting us in the pro shop this week.
