Thank you to everyone that took the time to complete our equipment survey last week - it will give us valuable information about what brands and products to stock in our shop next year, you never know you might see one or two new brands in the shop in 2016 as a result! Next week we will announce the winner of the TaylorMade balls drawn from everyone that completed the survey.

Record turnout for Captain's Day
We had a brilliant turnout of 64 players for Saturday's Captain's Day organised by men's captain Liam Tyrer and ladies captain Annie Rowland, this is easily a record for the most golfers we've had playing in a single competition. We were also very lucky with the weather, thunder storms had been forecast but in the end it didn't rain until everyone had completed their rounds and we managed to bring the BBQ inside! Everyone had a great day and the drinks were flowing - especially in Alan Nevin's group with their own well stocked beer buggy!
A special mention also to Baywatch wannabe Antony Green who completed his round with his surf board in tow, although I think he will be more careful about standing so close to the ninth pond next time after an impromptu swim! It was then on to the main event of the afternoon, which is the long standing tradition of throwing the Captain in to the pond, Liam was dressed for the occasion in swimming shorts and with his trusty inflatable frog.
You can find the full video of Liam's visit to the pond and more photos from the day by visiting our facebook page.
Well done to Liam and Annie for organising such a great day and night, the Captain's Day is always a real highlight of the year here at Hartford.
It's a Gray day on Captain's Day
Stuart Gray showed he is Hartford's top bandit by blitzing around the golf course in 45 points on Saturday for his first competition victory, his round included an excellent birdie two on the eleventh hole and he came back in 23 points, Stuart was off 18 when he joined in June but already his handicap dropped to 13, well done Stuart!
In second place was James Eaton, considering he was up against many higher handicappers James did very well to finish in second place with 42 points playing off a 6 handicap, James had three birdies in his first six holes and reeled off eight straight pars to finish his round, James' handicap has now dropped to 5.1.
Mike Angel continued his good run of form with a third place finish also on 42 points and he capped a good week by also winning his Pairs Knockout semi-final match on Monday with partner Jonno Ness against Martin Major and Antony Green by the margin of 3 and 2.
The top lady on the day was Alison Worrall with 38 points, well done also to Captain Annie who also scored a very respectable 38 points but finished behind Alison after a card play-off.
The line-up for the knockout finals now looks like this: LJ Percival Singles Knockout Final: Matthew Leach vs. Ian Daines or Antony Green I&J Daines Pairs Knockout Final: Mike Angel & Jonno Ness vs. Kieran & Paul Underwood or Liam Tyrer & Gareth Eaton
Callaway fitting day coming up
We have another fitting day coming up with Tom from Callaway on Bank Holiday Monday 31st August 12-4pm, the good thing about this event is that it will also be the opportunity to get fitted early for some new Callaway products that are to be launched in September.
Have a look at this video made on the Callaway tour truck just last week at the PGA Championship about the new wedges.
On the fitting day you will have the chance to hit these new clubs and have a FREE fitting before their official release date! You can also book a fitting for any other clubs in the 2015 Callaway range, contact me here if you would like to book a slot.
Don't forget that the ladies Club Championship has been re-arranged for this Saturday 29th August at 1pm, it looks like the weather will be better than last time and it would be great to see a good turnout of ladies for this board competition, defending champion is Julie Daines.
The seniors played an 18 hole Stableford on Tuesday in glorious sunshine, it was a close affair at the top as 28 handicappers Mike Eddison and seniors captain Roger Wilkinson both posted 42 point totals, however it was Mike that claimed top spot, and his second victory of the summer, courtesy of a card play-off. Roger had to settle for second place and in third was 19 handicapper Pete Wildin with 41 points, a mention also to Tom Hutchinson who scored two birdie two's in the space of three holes on the fifth and seventh. Next week the seniors play a nine hole roll up at 9.16am.
