It’s another warm welcome to our latest newsletter bringing you all the going’s on at Cheshire’s friendliest...(and cleanest!) Golf Club!!

But seriously, in these uncertain times, we are doing our best to remain open as normal whilst keeping everyone’s health and well being as our top priority.

The golf course is an area where you can enjoy some fresh air and feel safe at the moment so we’re not going to discourage anyone who wants to play to keep doing so for the time being.

Obviously this is an unprecedented fast-moving situation and as things develop we will keep you all updated, especially through our social media channels.

Members news

The shows must go on!

We’ve already lost major events like the London Marathon and the Grand National but the plan is for our Club competitions and events to continue with a few extra precautions in place, we’re recommending that the flags remain untouched in the holes as it will reduce the chances of infection.

Try your best to keep a good distance from your playing partners and don’t shake hands. Presently the clubhouse is open and we are regularly cleaning all areas so you are welcome in but you can even sit outside on the patio. Even if you don’t want to enter the clubhouse then your scorecard can be posted outside the pro-shop and your scorecard still entered.

If you have any symptoms such as high temperature or the dry cough then you will be well aware of the need to self-isolate but otherwise, we think that the golf course is a very safe place to be!

So the captains drive-in on Saturday 4th April will take place as will our Masters inspired par 3 competition unless the Government advise us otherwise.

Please remember that membership renewals are still due by 1st April to allow you to play in any of the new season’s competitions.

Some great scores in the sunshine

It was good to see some decent weather for last Wednesday’s Midweek Stableford and there were some great scores as our players enjoyed the sunshine!

Jay Moran is hitting a bit of good form after a quiet winter and he scored a mammoth 45 points to take his first victory of the season. In an extremely steady round, Jay scored a birdie, seven pars and nothing worse than a bogey.

Ian Daines took second place with 42 points and Pete Kinsey showed that he is getting back to full fitness with his 41 points in third place.

Pete reeled off an impressive four birdies in a row from the 4th through to the 7th hole.

Ladies 9-Hole Strokeplay competition

The Ladies played a 9-Hole strokeplay competition on Thursday and the winner was Jane Wright with a two-over-par nett 37.

Clearly Jane’s new clubs are doing the business for her and she’s been in the top three in many competitions. Jane also took the nearest the pin prize whilst Margaret Dutton was longest drive winner.

Jean Clare was one shot behind on nett 38 in second place and the ever consistent Sandra Peake was third on nett 39.

Seniors Competition

There was the same name at the top of the leaderboard for two weeks in a row with the seniors.

Last week Malcolm Wood won with 19 points but this Tuesday he scored even better in returning 22 points to take the honours again.

Malcolm has now won three seniors events over the winter and clearly he is in a rich vein of form that handicap secretary Ian will be monitoring closely!

Dave Cook was second with 20 points, and incoming captain Paul Frost was third with 19 points.
