Winter League Update
The first Winter League semi-final match on Saturday saw Javier Lang and Gary Cashmore take on Gareth Eaton and Liam Tyrer, the match was played off the back tees and with the wet and windy weather we have endured it meant that the course was playing its full length and then some! |
But all four players rose to the challenge, Liam and Gareth started off hot and won the first two holes, Javier answered back with an excellent birdie on the third hole and then the fourth hole was halved with birdies.
By the ninth hole the match was all square and looking like it may go the distance but in the end it came down to the putting and a few short putts missed by Gareth and Liam meant that Javier and Gary dug out a lead that they wouldn't relinquish and they closed out the match by the margin of 3 and 2. Javier and Gary will now wait to see who they face in the final, the other semi-final match takes place this Sunday between Julie and Ian Daines against Dave Johnson (who has got some new TaylorMade irons on the way) and Antony Green.

February Stableford review It was our first weekend competition in 3 weeks on Saturday as we played the February Stableford, scoring was good with the top 8 players beating their handicaps and it was great to see Paul Lang notching his first ever singles victory - and he did it in style with a 42 point score that 3 points better than anyone else! Paul saw his son Javier book his place in the Winter League final earlier in the day before showing it's a case of 'like father like son' by scoring on every hole in his winning round, Paul's handicap now drops from 26 to 24. Wayne Allen achieved his highest finish to date also as he came second with 39 points including a scintillating back nine of 23 points, Jay Moran showed a return to form in third place with a 38 point score.

Membership Renewals
By the time you read this you should have received an e-mail from us regarding this year's membership information and a letter from owner Tim Barnes, we have held dual membership prices with Pryors Hayes the same as last year, which involves outstanding value for money for full membership at TWO courses. The other membership categories have gone up in price slightly but we still believe that they offer great value for golf and there has been significant investment in the clubhouse, members lounge and now in refurbishing the shop. Despite what most of us think is the wettest winter we have ever experienced the golf course has only been closed on a few seldom occasions, so we are one of the few places that can truly say that we offer all year round golf!

March Fitting days
We had three really busy fitting days in February in which it was great to see lots of golfers making some huge improvements to their game through fitting sessions and plenty of purchases were made which means that there will be plenty of game enjoyment this summer! We have another major equipment company visiting us in March, and the all-important date for your diary is Thursday 19th March, when we will be hosting Titleist between 12pm and 5pm On this day you can enjoy a free 45 minute club fitting session with Titleist expert Frazer Jones on any of the latest Titleist range of clubs - including the soon to be released Vokey SM8 wedges that are currently taking the professional tours by storm! Most of you have probably been fitted for a new driver of irons but have you been fitted for wedges? You may have 3 or 4 wedges in your bag and no idea if they suit you or not, and yet the wedges are the clubs that really can knock shots off your game from 100 yards in.
Watch this video to show the benefits of a Titleist Vokey wedge fitting session. Contact us here to get booked in and take your wedge game to the next level with our help!

We've already had plenty of you taking us up on our FREE Golf Pride grip offer - that's right there's no catch! We will check your hand size and fit a new Align grip (worth up to £12.99) on one of your clubs for FREE! Around a third of you reading this admitted to not having your clubs regripped in the last 2-5 years, so why not call in and we'll regrip one of your clubs for free just so you can experience the improved feel and performance of a club with a new grip, which will also be the right size to fit your hand.

Two more happy customers!
We have been doing a roaring trade in the TaylorMade P790 irons and just last week another 2 members - Dave Shering and Dave Johnson were fitted for these fantastic new irons, in the well-respected Golf Digest Hot List that was recently published the P790 irons achieved a gold start and the perfect score of 20/20 in the Players-Distance irons category.
'The feel of a players iron with controllable distance and good feedback' was one reviewer's verdict and the real reason as to why these irons are so popular is that they suit such a broad range of players - we have fitted sets of the P790 irons for 4 handicappers through to guys playing off 18-20 handicap, no matter what your level - they just perform brilliantly and help your game.
Look out for the two Dave's to drop their handicaps now that they have joined the ever-growing team of P790!

Last week we revealed a remarkable statistic regarding the number of golfers playing grips that are over a year old, but what impact does that actually have on your game? Well, we decided to do some digging... |
| Tension whilst gripping | Grips are made from rubber and are prone to wear and tear, just like the tyres on your car. When they become worn, your grips will lose tackiness and your hands will start to slip during the swing, resulting in poorer shots.
The thing is, you’ll likely overcompensate by holding on to your clubs too tight, creating more tension and stiffness during the swing.
|
| Limited time offer in-store now | We know it sounds all doom and gloom, but it does make a huge difference to your game. That's why we're running this promotion at Hartford Golf Club, so you can experience the benefits of a new grip first hand.
There’s no catch, just pop by the shop before your next round to take advantage. |
