Meet our new Head Greenkeeper... Over the last couple of week’s you may have seen a new face out working out on the course as our new Head Greenkeeper Dan Ashelby has begun his new role. Let's get to know Dan a bit more... How long have you been greenkeeping? 'For over 10 years now since I left college' Where have you worked in the past? 'I began at Denton Golf Club where I trained for 5 years, then moved to Wilmslow for 3 years and most recently I was an Assistant Greenkeeper at the Mere before starting here'
What have been some of your career highlights so far? 'I was especially proud to be the Toro Student Greenkeeper of the year in 2018. It is a prestigious national award for up and coming greenkeepers and as part of the prize I got to visit the Toro HQ in Massachusetts in the USA and take part in a winter turf school. I went to St. Andrews in September for training as part of the R&A scholarship programme. I have also been lucky enough to work at major professional golf tournaments all over Britain, such as the BMW Championship at Wentworth, the British Masters at Close House, I was at Kingsbarns for the Dunhill Links and also worked at the Irish Open in Lahinch.'
