August Medal review... It was a smaller field for the August Medal for various reasons but a familiar name was at the top of the leaderboard as Eddy Williams continued his recent rich vein of form to take the victory. In his last two competitive rounds Eddy has now scored a nett 59 and nett 64, he had a steady front nine on Saturday going out in 7 over and playing to his handicap. But the back nine is where Eddy came to life and after a bogey on the 12th hole he scored 6 pars in a row to finish on 78 for a nett 64. Eddy has now reduced his handicap from 18 to 12 in the last few weeks but it looks like he’ll be single figures in no time! Eddy needed a strong back nine as there was yet another card play-off at the top, Pete Kinsey also scored a nett 64 and even though he went round the back nine in 37 shots it wasn’t enough to knock his good friend Eddy off the podium. It’s still been a great season for Pete as this was his seventh top 3 finish of the season. On a day of good scoring Chris Whalley was third on nett 65 and 7 players scored 69 or better. It was also good to see new member Wayne Allen scoring a one under par nett 68 in 5th place playing in his first club competition. Coming up it's a free weekend in terms of competitions here, but Captain Alan Tayler is taking 24 of our members away for the weekend to play the two courses at Breadsall Priory in Derbyshire, we’ll bring you all the news from there in next week’s edition….
