Winter League round up We're getting to the serious end of the Winter League now and there were four titanic matches played on Saturday in the quarter-finals stage, here are the results: - Paul Foster & Dave Shering beat Martin Major & Andie Fraser 5&4
- Chris Bird & Paddy Scanlan beat Alan Taylor & Alan Royle 2up
- Paul Cunningham & Eddy Williams beat Jay Moran & Pete Kinsey 2&1
- Paul & Kieran Underwood beat Joel Cann & Ben Barrow on 20th hole
So the number one seeds suffered a heavy defeat after losing the first 3 holes, they just had no way of coming back. Chris and Paddy were 3 up after 7 holes but the two's Alan fought to the end and went up the last only 1 down. In match three Paul and Eddy started off strongly to be 5 up after 12 holes before closing out number three seeds Pete and Jay by 2&1. And in a real nip and tuck final match, the Underwood's prevailed on the second extra hole. So the two semi-final matches (to be played by 10th March) are as follows: - Paul Foster & Dave Shering vs Paul & Kieran Underwood
- Chris Bird & Paddy Scanlan vs Paul Cunningham & Eddy Williams
This week we play the February Stableford on Saturday starting at 11am.

A Golf Day for JP… After the sad passing of Jonny Pearce last December, there will be a golf day held in his memory on Friday 14th June at Pryors Hayes Golf Club. It is being held with the intention of raising as much money as we can for the Brain Tumour Organisation. JP was such a popular guy that we will have no problem filling this day and we have over 40 teams already signed up, there are just a few team spaces left so if you would like to enter or to donate a prize or sponsor a hole then please visit the website www.jpsgolfday.co.uk. It should be a great day with plenty of prizes on offer and it's all in aid of someone who was a great guy and a very worthy cause so please try to do your bit to support it.

Driver review… It's always nice to give a new driver on the market a go, so we did a bit of range and on course testing of the new TaylorMade M6 driver last week. It is already in the bag of American long-hitter Dustin Johnson amongst others and after hitting it, we can see why he loves his new driver so much! Here are our ratings: Distance 9/10 - When compared to last year’s M4 driver, the M6 was going roughly around 10 yards further which is a pretty decent distance increase. The face did feel hotter so there could be something in the 'speed injection' production process. Accuracy 9/10 - Twist face technology definitely works and we hardly missed a fairway with this driver, considering it goes further there was no discernible loss of accuracy - if anything it was straighter and feels solid even on mishits.

|
Looks 8/10 - The blood orange colour story is certainly eye-catching but not off-putting and at address the grey/black finish looks very sleek. Value for money 8/10 - At £399 it's not cheap but it's the same price as a PING G410 and less than a Callaway Epic Flash so value for money. Overall performance 9.5/10 - Hard not to give this driver 10/10 as it seems to have the much sought after combination of distance and accuracy, but if it was perfect then TaylorMade wouldn't ever need to design another driver so we'll give it 9.5! If you would like to review and try one of the 2019 drivers out on the course then let us know by contacting us here and look out for more reviews next week!

Launching our biggest gainer challenge.... You've heard of the Biggest Loser TV show - well we want you to be Hartford's Biggest Gainer! Now that we have all of our 2019 demo drivers in our fitting studio, it's brimming with the latest technology and we want to help you increase your driver distance through a custom fitting session for the latest clubs. From Monday all the way through until Sunday 14th April we will have a leaderboard in the shop and the person who gains the biggest distance increase from their old driver to a new driver that they purchase will win a very special prize - a FREE matching fairway wood (worth up to £329) to go with their purchased driver! This contest will be especially good for those of you who still use an old driver from years ago or have never been custom fitted before, the distance gains you could achieve with a correctly fitted modern driver could be huge!
