Winter League Update We have now played 7 of the 8 rounds of the Winter League so the table is really taking shape....although there is still plenty to play for! The form pair are Chris Bird and Paddy Scanlan - they have won 2 of the last 4 rounds and their latest score on Saturday of 26 points was good enough to see them claim top spot and they have now moved up to second place in the overall table. Paddy may have lost his beard but he hasn't lost any of his golfing magic, this latest winning round was built on birdies from him on the 4th and the 8th holes but Chris really put the icing on the cake after a fine approach to the 9th hole set up a tap in birdie, this meant they scored 8 points on the last two holes - some finish! Paul Cunningham and Eddy Williams needed a good score to move into the top 8 and a 25 point total was their best score of the winter so far, 20 handicapper Eddy played steady golf with 4 pars and Paul contributed a birdie on the 4th hole. In third place were the Underwood's - Paul and Kieran on 25 points also including 2 birdies, this was also their best score and they have probably been the most consistent pair with all their seven scores ranging from 22 - 25 points. So the crucial top 8 positions are: 1. Martin Major & Andie Fraser = 124 points 2. Chris Bird & Paddy Scanlan = 122 points 3. Peter Kinsey & Jay Moran = 121 points 4. Paul & Kieran Underwood = 118 points 5. Ben Barrow & Joel Cann = 115 points 6. Paul Cunningham & Eddy Williams = 114 points 7. Alan Tayler & Alan Royle = 112 points 8. Gary Cashmore & Javier Lang = 112 points The last round is on Sunday at 11am and there are another five pairs below this top 8 that are only two points off a qualifying spot so there could be lots of changes to the table after the weekend, it should be a hell of a final round!
