Winter League Round up Gary Cashmore and the inform Javier Lang won round 6 of the Winter League on Sunday, they got off to a solid start with pars on four of the first five holes before Javier showed his class with back to back birdies before two pars to finish so their betterball one under par score gave them 25 points. Alan Tayler and Alan Royle had another steady round with 24 points in second place and Dave Johnson and Antony Green also finished on 24 points after a perfect birdie-birdie start from Dave they dropped just one shot - on the 7th hole. There are now just 2 rounds to go in the New Year before we whittle things down to the top 8 pairs for the quarter-finals, the current standings are: 1. Martin Major & Andie Fraser = 124 points 2. Pete Kinsey & Jay Moran = 121 points 3. Paddy Scanlan & Chris Bird = 116 points 4. Kieran & Paul Underwood = 115 points 5. Ben Barrow & Joel Cann = 113 points 6. Antony Green & Dave Johnson = 111 points 7. Gareth Eaton & Liam Tyrer = 111 points 8. Ken Powell & Pete Wildin = 108 points

Midweek Stableford Review There was a good turnout for last Wednesday's Midweek Stableford but with some cold weather for players to contend with the scoring wasn't quite as hot as usual. Jay Moran wasn't sure his 38 point total would be good enough to take first place but he held on to take his first singles victory in his 18th club competition, in July Jay was off 28 but after a few lessons with Adrian Hill and regular practice rounds on the course his handicap has now fallen to 21. Jay is also riding high in the Winter League with partner Pete Kinsey. The key to Jay's triumph was holing a huge 40 foot birdie putt on the 18th hole for 4 points, this was crucial as four players finished below him on 37 points. In second place was Kieran Underwood and his dad Paul Underwood finished in third place.
