Lombard Pro-Am Trophy
One of our Pro's, Adrian Hill - who splits his teaching time between here and our sister club Pryors Hayes, had a great round of golf in the Lombard Trophy last week. He represented Pryors Hayes with their club captain Dave Tweddle who plays off a handicap of 17 and they blew the field away with a betterball score of 59 at Dunham Forest Golf Club.
They have now qualified for the national final at Gleneagles in Scotland which is played just three weeks before the Ryder Cup is played there in September, and the prize fund is a whopping £43,000! Out of all the 16 qualifying events Adrian and Dave had the best score and their round even included one bogey, but Adrian weighed in with six birdies and Dave contributed two birdies of his own.
Hartford were represented in the qualifier by Adam Powell and amateur partner Paul Underwood and they scored a 2 under par 70.

Captain's Day coming up soon
The Captain's Day is always one of the highlights of the year here at Hartford and with this years Captains Jill Bebbington and Chris Bird organising the day it, again, promises to be another great occasion. The format is an 18 hole Stableford with the ladies teeing off first followed by the men. The emphasis is very much on it being a fun day of golf and everyone is encouraged to wear bright golf outfits - there will be even be a prize for best dressed golfer so it's worth making an effort. There will also be a drinks buggy going around the golf course to keep you well refreshed throughout your round!
After the golf the Captains will probably have to endure their usual visit in to the ninth pond! Then it's on to the evening's entertainment with black tie dress encouraged and Pimms served on the patio before a barbecue and live music and prize presentations, it should be a great night! Tickets are reasonably priced at £25 and available in the bar, please purchase them in advance as soon as you can as there are a limited number available, remember that you do not have to be a member to attend the evening do.
The proceeds from the event will be going to the charities Tiny Steps and the Vale Royal Multiple Sclerosis Society so the more people that come and the more money we raise, the better!

PING G30 range arrives in stock
By the time that you read this newsletter we will have the full range of PING G30 clubs in stock. I have to admit that the G30 irons are the best that I have tried this year as they are forgiving and consistently accurate and long, I am sure that the driver and fairways woods will be just as good, and we will bring you a full review next week. I am looking for readers that would be interested in having a fitting and reviewing the new PING G30 range, if you would be interested please click here to let me know.
The Seniors played their monthly 18 hole Stableford on Tuesday and the weather was good as it usually is for the Seniors, the winning golfer was 14 handicapper Alan Nevin and his winning score was an amazing 49 points! I think it's fair to say Alan had the round of his life as he fired three birdies and he was actually one under par for his first 15 holes having scored 25 points on the front nine. Rumour has it Alan has been spending less time in the bar and more time in the gym - maybe this is the secret to golf! Geoff Dodd took second place a mere nine points behind Alan on 40 and third place went to Tom Hutchinson with 39 points.
The Seniors have certainly been busy as they also played a team match against our sister club Pryors Hayes seniors, with the result being a very sporting 4-4 draw showing that the teams were very evenly matched! Last week they also played a yellow ball competition and there was an excellent turn out of 32 players - the winning 3 man team was Tony Ledson, Ken Powell and Dennis Cherry.
Julie Daines was a deserving winner of the Ladies Club Championship on Sunday. Julie had scored the best nett in the Club Championship recently but club rules mean that her name won't go on the board as there is a separate Ladies Club Championship - which Julie has now won also! She returned a great score of nett 66 which was good enough to just edge out Lady Captain Jill Bebbington on nett 67 and Evelyn Vass followed just behind with a nett 68. Evelyn had the consolation of scoring the best gross score and her round included a fantastic eagle two on the fifteenth hole.
The ladies had a weakened team at Heswall in their latest West Cheshire Shield match against Heswall Golf Club, unfortunately they suffered a 6.5-0.5 defeat but thoroughly enjoyed the golf course. The next ladies competition is on Thursday 7th August and is a nine hole Stableford.
Worst outfit of the week
We have had an outfit of the week competition before, here is the WORST outfit of the week! Mr Andie Fraser was spotted going out for a game in these pretty awful shorts so I had to shame him!
