December Medal review Regular readers will know that the youngsters have been sweeping up so far this winter and the trend continued on Saturday as we played a damp December Medal. Joel Cann is the hottest golfer at the club at the moment and he made it a hat trick as he won his third individual competition in a row – in fact we’re not sure if such a feat has ever been done before? This week Joel blitzed around the course in 45 points scoring 20 on the front but then going ballistic with a quite ridiculous 25 points on the back nine in which he was level par with 2 birdies and 2 bogies alongside 5 pars. When he’s not at school, Joel is always on the driving range working on his game and it’s great to see him achieving such good results, since June, Joel’s handicap has fallen from 21 to 12 and with the way he is playing right now he is right on track to soon be in the single figures. Colin Lamb struck a blow for the older golfers (sorry to call you old Colin!) by taking second place with 41 points, the highlight of his round was a nice birdie two on the 5th hole. Kieran Underwood is another young golfer who has had a great winter season so far and he took third place at the weekend with 40 points, Kieran had 2 birdies on the back nine. This Saturday we play round 5 of the Winter League with an 11.00am start time. |
