The Alans are awesome in the foursomes!
On Saturday we had a bit of a different competition format as we played the Sunningdale Foursomes based on the famous competition played at Sunningdale Golf Club. Despite the variation on the foursomes format the scoring was extremely good and the winning pair of Alan Tayler and Alan Royle linked up brilliantly to amass 45 points, including a very impressive total of 11 pars.
The husband and wife pairing of Mike and Beth Littler also dovetailed very well to score 44 points in second place. The highlight of their round was a brilliant birdie on the 13th hole.
Kieran and Paul Underwood also made a dynamic duo to score 41 points including a total of three birdies.
While scratch handicapper Tom Duncalf will regret borrowing his partner, Sarah Dee's putter to tap a short putt in as their 44 point total didn't count as they were unfortunately disqualified!
Beth has a Bank Holiday weekend to remember
Bank Holiday Stableford The Bank Holiday Monday gave us the chance to squeeze an extra stableford competition in and Beth Littler will be glad that she played. After her runners up finish on Saturday she went one better by taking victory in the sunshine on Monday with a massive score of 47 points. Beth's score was established on the front nine as she scored a birdie and three pars in a row from the fourth hole, scoring 25 points on the first nine holes. A decent back nine of 22 points saw her score 47 points. Beth's reward for such a good score is a 5 shot handicap reduction to 25!
Second place went to young Kieran Underwood on 38 points who continued his good form and Andy Goolding also scored 38 points in third place. This Saturday it's the big one as we play our first 'Major' of the season - The Inaugural Trophy.
There are still a few spaces left on the entry sheet and it's an 11am start.

Andy Continues His Good Run With The Seniors
The seniors played an 18 hole Stableford last Tuesday. Andy Goolding has been on a good run of form recently and, after 3 top three finishes in a row in seniors competitions, he topped this by taking first place with 44 points. Andy's handicap has now fallen to 21. Derek Mercer also had a good knock in second place with 41 points including a birdie on the 4th hole, and Andy Margeson took third place with 38 points including a birdie on the 6th hole.
Sue Guns For Victory With The Ladies
A number of our lady members were away last week on a golfing trip to Portugal, but the ladies that were left played a nine hole Stableford competition. It was Sue Gunning that took first place with 16 points with Lady Captain, Sandra Peake, in second place just one point back while Rita Milburn was in third place also on 15 points. Hopefully we'll bring you some photos of the ladies' Portugal trip next week, as long as they are suitable for a family publication like this newsletter!
