Modernising Golf's Rules
Last week the R&A proposed some key changes to the Rules of Golf from 2019. Their Rules Modernisation initiative has been underway for a few years now and this is the next stage in that process. The aim is to not only make the Rules easier to understand, but also to address some of the game's current problems, such as speed of play, and ensure they fit the needs of today's game.
Please spare a couple of minutes to complete our survey, which gives you the chance to have your say on the proposed changes.
We've picked out some of the most significant Rules changes for you to digest in this survey, before giving you the chance to say whether you agree or disagree with each of them. It'll be great to know your thoughts.

Hartford Distance Gained Challenge
One of the biggest events in our season is now up and running - last year we helped over 50 golfers gain distance on their drives through a custom fitting session and the biggest increase was a massive 45 yards extra through our Distance Gained Challenge.
If you're serious about your golf you really should take part in this challenge, we can virtually guarantee you extra distance on your drives through some expert advice from us and a custom fitting session.
Not only can you gain more distance but we also have a fabulous prize, the golfer that increases their distance the most throughout March and April will win a prize of a FREE matching fairway wood to the driver that they were fitted for and purchased - so as well as hitting the ball further you could also win a fairway wood worth up to £249!
We can fit you for any of the 2017 ranges with leading models such as the Callaway Epic, TaylorMade M1 and M2's, the PING G series, Titleist 917's and Benross' new HTX range.
There will be a leaderboard in the shop so we can track all the improvements and we can virtually guarantee you more distance, so what are you waiting for? Contact us here to get your fitting session booked in.
March Medal round up
The course took a battering last week from the wind and rain and it's a testament to the hard work of the Greenkeepers that we even managed to play the March Medal on Saturday, Gary Cashmore has had an excellent Winter season and this continued when he returned a nett 62 including three birdies to take his third competition win since October.
In second place was young Javier Lang with a fine nett 65 and he just edged out Chris Whalley (also nett 65) on the back nine, the next competition is the Midweek Stableford next Wednesday.
Sunday saw the second of the Winter League semi-finals take place with table toppers Stuart Gray and Jonno Ness playing against the fourth placed Captain Paul Underwood and his son Kieran. The fixture was in doubt and with both pairs keen to play the match was declared on after a course inspection at 11:30am. To say that is was great weather for ducks was an under-statement and was emphasised as they saw 2 ducks walking across the green on the 1st Hole.
After trading early blows for the first four holes, Kieran stepped up a gear and played some quality golf with birdies on two of the next three holes and was supported by Paul to build a commanding lead as they got to the turn at 5 up. The score didn't seem to reflect the golf being played as there was some great golf shots by both teams and the difference came down to some well holed pressure putts.
The back nine was a lot tighter and a par from Stuart on the testing 12th and a win on the 14th reduced the deficit to 3 holes, however Jonno and Stuart were running out of holes and with Kieran having 2 putts from close range on the 15th a 4&3 Underwood victory was secured.
Paul and Kieran will now play Steve Bond and Steve Nicholson in the Final which will be played in the coming weeks, preferably when the weather is a little bit drier!
