Every year it's amazing how good the scores are in our 3 Club Challenge, we often see James Eaton playing with half a set of clubs so it was no surprise that he scored 41 points on Saturday using just his 4 hybrid, 8 iron and putter to take the victory. 6 handicapper James showed his skills at manufacturing shots and he even had an eagle on the 13th hole, he was looking in trouble as he was 50 yards from the green in a bunker with his tee shot but using his trusty 8 iron he holed his escape shot for an eagle!
In a first for our newsletter we have even got an action video highlight of James' amazing eagle - have a look at it here.
Simon Stephenson must be a fan of the 3 club format too as he was playing with James and also scored 41 points but had to settle for second place, Ian Daines started off brilliantly with 2 birdies in his first 4 holes and he came third with 39 points.

The ladies played the Di Sommerville Vase on Sunday and luckily the mornings rain eased off for them, the winner was Ann Broster with 38 points, Ann has been in great form recently and her handicap has fallen to 19 - well done Ann here she is receiving the trophy from Di.
Christine Paxton took second place with 36 points and Jean Clare took third spot with 35 points.
Last Thursday the ladies and seniors joined forces to play a mixed pairs competition, Ann Broster had the best individual score but the winning pair were Rhett Butler and Sandra Peake - here they are with their winning prizes.
A special mention also to Christine Lever and Alaine Britton who played together as there was an odd number and actually had the best combined score but weren't eligible to win the prize, nevertheless a great day was had by all!
