Welcome to our latest newsletter and it's a very exciting week in the golfing world as it's the week of the 145th Open Championship at Royal Troon in Scotland. The battle to lift the famous Claret Jug will be fierce amongst the world's top golfers and every shot hit from the opening drive at 6:35am to the last putt dropping will be shown on all four days on SKY TV. If you haven't got satellite TV don't worry we will be showing all live play in the clubhouse so please call in.
Here are five players we're backing to do well at Troon:
1. Dustin Johnson - undoubtedly the form man in golf and if the wind is in the right direction he could eat up the first 6 holes with his massive drives
2. Sergio Garcia - always the nearly man but he is fourth in all time earnings at the Open, and has a win and two fifth places in last three starts
3. Russell Knox - Scottish born US PGA Tour member who still loves playing in Britain, top 10 at Scottish Open and runner up in the Irish Open
4. Rickie Fowler - he is in a slump but he is too good a player for this to last, apparently he likes playing in bad weather so he's come to the right place!
5. Nicolas Colsearts - big hitting Belgian who shot back to back 66's at weekend at the Scottish Open, his putter seems to be hot so anything is possible.
Who do you think will win the Open? Click here and let us know your thoughts.
Here are some of the keys groups to look out for on the first day:
6:35am - Colin Montogmerie, Marc Leishman, Luke Donald 9:03am - Jordan Spieth, Justin Rose, Shane Lowry 9:25am - Danny Willett, Rickie Fowler, Jason Day 1:26pm - Phil Mickelson, Lee Westwood, Ernie Els 2:04pm - Dustin Johnson, Adam Scott, Henrik Stenson
There are still a handful of tickets left for the Open sweepstake and at just £1 a ticket you could win a £75 shop voucher if you pick the winner, it should be a great Open Championship!
In the rest of this week's news:

July Medal Review
We had a lot of heavy rain on Saturday morning and playing the July Medal was in serious doubt but luckily the rain relented at lunch time and we managed to get it played, considering the wet conditions scoring was exceptional.
Jonno Ness has been fairly quiet recently but he burst into life on Saturday as he fired a brilliant nett 62, he had a birdie on the sixth hole both times around and he now qualifies for the Hartford Masters in September as well as seeing his handicap drop to 19. In second place was Steve Holehouse who started with two birdies on his way to a nett 63, normally this total would have been good enough to win but it wasn't Steve's day and he will rue dropping four shots in his last two holes in a round that could have been even better.
Third place went to Marc Williams on nett 67, this Sunday we play another board competition - the Hartford Stag Trophy starting at 11am so you should get back into the clubhouse in time to watch the final round of the Open in the clubhouse.

Shirt trade in deal throughout July
We all like a trade in deal and our latest one is a good one! Trade in any old golf shirt and get £10 off any new shirt in the shop, we have some great new stock in the shop from Under Armour, Nike, adidas, FootJoy, Galvin Green and PING and the weather is picking up at the weekend so now is the perfect time to upgrade your wardrobe and save some money!
We have a bin full of your old shirts and there are some shockers with holes in and buttons falling off, so we've decided to offer an extra incentive - the person that trades in the worst shirt during our promotion will win a prize of a sleeve of Titleist Pro V1 balls - so dig out those old shirts, the worse the better!
The rain stopped for the seniors on Tuesday morning although it didn't quite feel like a Summer Special! The seniors played an 18 hole Stableford with the first nine holes played from the white tees and the back nine played from the yellow tees as bit of a challenge, it was a game of two halves for Bob Griffiths playing his first competition of the season - he scored a respectable 17 points off the white tees but when he hit the back nine he made the most of playing from the yellow tees to score a massive 26 points on the back nine including 2 birdies, meaning that he had amassed a winning total of 43.
Ken Powell played well in second place scoring a two on the way to 41 points which could have been even better but for a costly three putt from around six feet on the twelfth hole, John Sykes came third with 39 points.
The ladies played a 9 hole Monday evening Stableford and the winner was Christine Paxton with 18 points, in second place was Ann Broster on 15 points. This Thursday there are 26 ladies due to play in the Lady Captain's charity Texas Scramble which is over 9 holes and starts at 9:24am.
Coming up soon is the ladies Club Championship on Sunday 24th July starting at 1pm, it would be good to see as many ladies as possible playing in this prestigious board competition.
- Lady Captain's Charity Scramble - Thursday 14th July 9:24am - Hartford Stag Trophy - Sunday 17th July 11am - Seniors 9 hole roll up - Tuesday 19th July 9:16am - Ladies 9 hole roll up - Thursday 20th July 9:24am
