Hello again golfers and welcome to our weekly bulletin,
Well it's been another wet and breezy week here in Cheshire but hopefully now that we are into the month of December you're starting to get into the Christmas spirit! The decorations are now up in the shop and it certainly has a more festive look now and despite some very busy days over the Black Friday weekend we still do have some stock left including some great Christmas gift ideas!

HACA of the year winners!

The golf course is still in great condition despite the weather and November has seemed like a very wet month but just how much rain have we had on the course?
Our green-keepers track the rainfall on the course every day and it makes for some very interesting reading, in November we've had more rainfall than any other month this year with a total of 117.5mm of rainfall on the course but interestingly the average rainfall in the UK for November is around 120mm. September and October were very dry months with just 28.5mm and 40.0mm of rainfall respectively so that probably made November seem to be even wetter than usual but in reality we had slightly less rain than average for that month!
Over the year May has been the second wettest month of the year so far with 85mm of rainfall with the average usually around 70mm and April was the driest month so far with just 23.5mm of rainfall which is about a third of the amount we normally get at that time of the year. Overall it's been a relatively dry and mild year so far and temperatures have also been above average on the whole so maybe we shouldn't moan too much about the weather!
The ladies played another Winter Foursomes competition on Thursday, the format is always a challenge and a cold wind made scoring difficult but it was the pair of Margaret Cherry and Pam Till that battled the elements the best with a winning score of nett 81. In second place were Sandra Peake and Collette Walling with nett 83 and third place went to Ann Broster and Kath Hough with nett 86.
Next the ladies play a nine hole Stableford Waltz followed by their Christmas lunch next Thursday 10th December.
The seniors were lucky enough to stay dry this week after last week's Tuesday morning deluges! They played a nine hole Stableford which was the third round of the Winter League, Brian Whitworth had won the first two rounds but this week he was away so everyone had the chance to catch him up at the top.
29 golfers teed it up in another good turnout. It was Graham Bower (pictured) that took advantage the most by taking the win after scoring 20 points, he beat Keith Morrish and Phil Pickering who both also had 20 points on a card play-off. Next week the seniors are having a nine hole team competition before their Christmas party.

Christmas opening times
I'm sure that many of you will get a good bit of time off work over Christmas and we will be open every day apart from Christmas Day so hopefully you can get some games of golf in. We will also be open until 5pm on Christmas Eve if you need to do a bit of very last minute shopping! Then on Boxing Day we will be back open again at 8am so you can come down and walk some of that Christmas pudding off on the golf course, we will also be open on New Year's Day so you should have plenty of opportunities to get some golf in over the Christmas holidays!
