Hello again golfers and welcome to the latest instalment of our much anticipated newsletter! This week as Christmas is fast approaching (you've only got approximately five weeks now to get your shopping done) we wanted to remind you why you should visit us to do your shopping.

We offer late night shopping as we are open until 9pm every day of the week, you don't have to fight through crowds or big queues and parking is easy and convenient.

Even more importantly though we will give you the best service possible through friendly honest advice and we have a massive range of gift ideas at reasonable prices for the golfers in your life! Later in the newsletter we will give you some ideas about some great Christmas gifts that we have in stock.

Remember also that we will be open every day apart from Christmas day itself!

Presentation night highlights

As usual the summer season's presentation night was well attended and it was a great success, the drinks were also flowing and I bet that there were a few sore heads on Saturday morning - maybe that's why we numbers for the November Bogey down!

Club Captain's Liam Tyrer and Annie Rowland presented all the winners with their prizes, here are the ladies Club Champion Sharon Dunning and men's Club Champion Steve Bond receiving their respective trophies - you never know Steve might be able to use his voucher to buy a pair of pants that actually fit him!

Also photographed is the LJ Percival Singles Knockout winner Ian Daines, Barnes Trophy winner Tim Barnes and young England star and four times Birdie Consulting Scratch Trophy winner Rhys Nevin-Wharton with Chris Bird. Good luck to Rhys who has just signed a four year golf scholarship with Tennessee University next year, you may have also noticed Rhys helping us out in the shop at the weekends!

   

   




November Bogey

The November Bogey is one of the few Bogey competitions we play throughout the year and maybe Ian Daines wishes that we could play a few more as he blitzed around the golf course in a winning score of 5 up on Saturday. The 11 handicapper was having the round of his life after nine holes as he played the front nine in one under par gross thanks to two birdies to be 6 up at the halfway stage, but a no score on the tenth hole brought Ian back down to earth with a bump! in the end he had to settle for a score of 5 up which was good enough to see off the rest of the field, in second place was another 11 handicapper in Dave Johnson, Dave had two two's in his score of 4 up. In third place was Alan Royle who also started off like a train and was 6 up after just eight holes however as the weather worsened he had to settle for a score of 3 up and third place, that new TaylorMade driver Alan purchased in the shop seems to be doing the job though!

I have to say weather conditions were atrocious on Saturday so well done to all of our members who battled the elements bravely, it was that bad that a few golfers didn't even make it until the end of their rounds and sought the warm sanctuary of the clubhouse after nine holes! You may have noticed that the latest competition results haven't been added to our website, apologies for this we've had an issue with the club computer that we are trying our best to resolve!

November Midweek Stableford

The Midweek Stableford was won by Mike Angel on Wednesday with a score of 41 points, 17 handicapper Mike has had a good year and this was his third victory of 2015 with his handicap falling from 22 to 17. 

In second place was Mike's playing partner Jonno Ness who scored 39points and in third place was Gareth Leigh on 38 points.

The next competition is this Sunday as we play the fourth round of the Winter League at 11am. 




Black Friday coming up soon

As you are all probably aware it is Black Friday on 27th November, this is the day when all retailers reduce the sales price of their stock by massive margins for one day only and you lucky shoppers can grab some amazing bargains! Christmas Raffle Draw

The ladies Autumn Pairs final was played on Monday morning, the ladies were lucky with the weather and it was a close match - in the end Alison Worrall and Ann Broster pulled away from the battling pair of Sandra Peake and Annie Rowland by the margin of 3&2. Here are the ladies in action on the first tee - the camera didn't put them off as they all found the fairway!

The ladies played a nine hole Stableford on Thursday morning, Sue Bradley had her first victory as she scored 19 points to take first place, in second was Di Sommerville on 18 points, this was Di's fourth top ten finish in a row including two wins! In third place was Lady Captain Annie Rowland also on 18 points, Annie has also been in consistent form with a top ten finish in her last ten successive competitions.

There was supposed to be an 18 hole Stableford on Sunday but after a lot of rain beforehand it was decided it would be wise to make it just a nine hole competition, Sarah Dee came out on top with an 18 point total, in second place was Julie Daines with 17 points and in third was Ann Broster keeping the points symmetry going on 16!

The next ladies event is the 18 hole Winter Foursomes on Thursday 26th November.


 

On Tuesday morning the seniors played the second leg of their Winter League, it was a rather wet nine hole Stableford that was won by Brian Whitworth with 22 points, this was Brian's second win in a row so he is the clear leader in the Winter League, Brian's good golf has resulted in a handicap reduction to 26. In second place was Peter Earlam who also had 22 points but lost out on a card play-off, in third place was Geoff Dodd with 19 points.

Next week the seniors play an 18 hole Stableford.

Good luck to senior member Keith Ingram who is moving out of the area to Great Yarmouth in Norfolk next week, Keith played his last game with the seniors this Tuesday but he's told us that he will be back in Cheshire on the odd occasion and all the senior members are welcome to visit him if you find yourselves in the Norfolk area and fancy a game of golf!
