A record breaking score in October Medal
Mike Barrow made it two in a row when he won the October Medal on Saturday after his recent President's Trophy victory. Mike had never broken 90 in a competition before his two most recent winning games so that makes his score of 82 - 25 nett 57 even more remarkable.
We've had some low scores recently but we don't think anyone has ever shot a round as low as nett 57 before in a competition. Mike has put in some hard work on his golf recently with the help of our professional Adam Powell and in the last two weeks Mike has seen his handicap fall from 26 to 17 - that's some progress!
Alan Royle had a cracking round of nett 64 but finished in a distant second place and in third was Andie Fraser with a nett 65 including a birdie two on the eleventh hole.
Even though the weather has been mild recently this Saturday sees our Winter League begin, remember if you wish to participate you need to pay your entry fee before the first round begins.
Viva Las Vegas for Steve & Liz
This Thursday is a very special day for one of our most popular members as Steve Bond is marrying his gorgeous fiancé (and long-time golf widow) Liz Tomlinson.
Steve has been a member at Hartford for the past 13 years having been a former captain, club champion and current course record holder.
You will always hear Steve in the clubhouse before you see him so it fits in perfectly with his personality that the happy couple would choose to get married in the bright lights of Las Vegas.
It will be an honour to celebrate the day with the happy couple and I know that many of the members will be watching at home via the wonders of live streaming!
Everyone wishes Steve and Liz the best for the big day and we wish them all the happiness in the world.
New Titleist iron & hybrid arrivals
We were very excited to take delivery of the new Titleist 716 range of irons & 816 hybrids in our fitting room last week. The 716 and 816 ranges aren't officially released until the end of October but we are one of the first places in the country to be able to offer expert custom fitting on this exciting new range, contact me now to book your fitting - I promise you will be impressed when you try them!
Half price Ashworth Knitwear
As the season draws to a close we have made some large reductions on the price of the Ashworth Hartford Golf Club knitwear. Originally priced at £59.99 these merino sweaters & slip overs are great value at just half price. At the moment we have most sizes available in men's and ladies but be quick as at this price they will soon go!!
Summer Presentation night news
As all the summer competitions are now concluded we need to award all the winners their prizes!
Our traditional annual summer presentation night will be held on Friday 13th November starting at 7.30pm. There will be a 3 course meal, followed by prize awards and a disco with late bar, members and guests are more than welcome and tickets are good value at £18 each.
Whether you're a winner or a loser it would be great if as many members as possible could attend the presentation night as we can celebrate what has been another great season at the club!
Are you Hartford's best practicer?
We've had a phenomenal response to our new driving range membership cards, it looks like lots of you will be doing plenty of practice this winter on our driving range and really working on your games which is great to see!
Here is a reminder again of our exciting new range card deals:
GOLD Card 50 x 50 balls £100 save 44%
SILVER Card 20 x 50 balls £48 save 33%
BRONZE Card 10 x 50 balls £28 save 22%
The Gold membership card has been by far the best seller so far and that is because it offers the best value!
This has prompted us to come up with an idea for a little competition, we want to find Hartford's best 'practicer', the idea is that we will keep track of every driving range membership card that we sell and how many times they are used, the member that hits the most balls between now and the end of the year we will reward with a FREE top up of 50 credits on to their card - that's £100 worth of range balls that you can win! So the competition is on, remember the old adage that practice makes perfect but in this case lots of practice can also save you money!
