Captain's Charity Day Reminder This Saturday sees our Captain's Day taking place, it is always one of the social highlights of the year and after all the pressure of recent board competitions the emphasis is more on fun with the teams of four best 2 scores to count format and plenty of money will hopefully be raised for Breast Cancer Awareness and the Salvation Army. There are still a few spaces left on the start sheet and currently we have two teams of 3 players that could do with an extra player, it is open to all members including 5 day members so any member can play. Please remember to try your best to wear pink on the day!! The golf is usually followed by the traditional throwing of this year’s Captain Dave Shering into the 9th pond followed by a barbecue and disco which will go on long into the night and members and guests are encouraged to attend as all proceeds will be going to the Captain's charities, tickets are priced at just £15 each. Remember also to get your Open Sweepstake tickets from the shop now, just £1 each and the top prize is a £75 voucher if you pick the winning player of this year’s Open Championship out of the hat.
Junior Club Championship
After the main Club Championship the junior version took place on Sunday, 6 handicapper Kieran Underwood won the gross category, played off the white tees with a very creditable 78. Kieran just saw off Joel Cann who scored a gross 80, but at least Joel had the consolation of winning the best nett prize with a 68. Danial O'Hare is one to watch out for in the future and he won the 9 hole Championship played for by the younger junior golfers with a one over par nett 36. |
