Ladies Club Championship
The course was in fantastic condition on Sunday as our ladies played their Club Championship and thankfully the sun came out to make conditions even better.
The winner was Chris Lever who scored an excellent nett 68. This is Chris' second honours board competition that she has won, but the first time that she was won the Club Championship. Well done Chris and your new handicap is 30! In second place was Wendy Lock with a nett 73 while Jean Clare took third with nett 75.
Midsummer Cup
Last Thursday the ladies played another board competition - the appropriately named Midsummer Cup.
Joyce Graham was a lady on song as she scored an amazing 25 points on the front nine including three four point holes. She added another 17 on the back nine to set up a 42 point winning total.
Nobody could get near Joyce as she won the Trophy for the second time in 3 years after also claiming it in 2015. Second place went to Sue Gunning on 35 points and third place went to Elspeth Forbes on 32 points.
Spring Knockout
It was a busy week for our ladies as the final of the Spring Knockout was also played, pitting two in form golfers against each other as Sue Gunning took on Elspeth Forbes. Sue got off to a great start and established an early 5 hole lead, but Elspeth started pegging her back and she reached the turn just 3 down.
The momentum continued with Elspeth on the back nine and even though Sue wasn't playing badly she couldn't stem Elspeth's strong comeback with the match closed out in Elspeth's favour on the 17th hole. This is the fourth time Elspeth has won an honours board competition but well played to both ladies on a hard fought match!
18 Hole Stableford
The seniors played a rather damp 18 hole Stableford on Tuesday morning, the rain didn't prevent a good turn out and the scoring was still good, the winner was 16 handicapper Tom Hutchinson with 40 points including a nice birdie on the fourth hole. Runner up was Paul Frost on 38 points, Paul had a birdie on the 13th, and in third place was in form Tony Ledson on 37 points, in a very up and down round Tony fired a very impressive three birdies - not bad for a 20 handicapper!
Next week the Seniors play the fourth round of their Summer League which is a nine hole Stableford.
