Just a reminder that as usual we're starting off the New Year with a massive January Sale, it would take far too long to list every sale item but here are a few highlights:

We had an exciting delivery between Christmas and the New Year as many demo clubs arrived from TaylorMade for the new 2017 models of the M1 and M2, the strap line from TaylorMade is same letter better everything and last year's clubs were so good they reasoned that there was no need to bring completely new models out but just refine what were already seriously good golf clubs.
In terms of the drivers there is more carbon in the new 2017 models and better acoustics along with a number of improved shaft offerings at no extra charge which means that the 2017 M1 and M2 models are even more forgiving and just as long if not longer than last year's models which were used by top players such as Jason Day, Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy.

HACA's winners announced
It's time to announce the winners of our Hartford Alternative Club Awards (HACA's) but to add to the suspense we thought we'd announce a winner in each category once a week, so this week it's the Best dressed golfer award.
Alan Taylor deserves a mention for the unstinting wearing of his ProQuip waterproof jacket every day of the year whether it's 25 degrees in July or -5 degrees in December! Postman Marc Williams admitted that he doesn't own a pair of trousers so he wears shorts all year round which is also an impressive effort throughout the winter months.
Paul Frost loves a clashing outfit - usually a combination of checks and stripes, regular Gareth Pendlebury comes up with a brighter outfit every time we see him and last year's winner Gareth Eaton plumbed new depths last year with the sheer garishness of his trousers!
But there can only be one winner of the first HACA of 2016 for best dressed golfer and that is member Andy Margeson who is doing his best to show that senior golfers really do have a sense for fashion with his array of flashy trousers and tops, but the icing on the cake was his brilliant plus fours outfit, well done Andy a deserving winner as you can see from the photographs!

As we enter 2017 I am now nearly three quarters of the way through my Captain's year and I have had the pleasure in playing with over 60 of the members of Hartford Golf club. Each member brings something different to a very unique club where you don't just have playing partners and acquaintances but you have friends, good friends and people that treat you like extended family. That is just part of the reason that some think of leaving but rarely find anywhere that will be as welcoming and friendly.
I had the pleasure of playing in our annual Christmas Eve Texas Scramble and was overwhelmed when the winning team donated over £130 of prize money to my Charity of the Year The Russett School to take us over the £1000 mark which will go towards the development of a Sensory room to give the children that need a little help learning.
I look forward to my final 3 months as Captain and hope to play with many more of the members that I haven't managed to yet before handing over to Ian Wharton at the start of April and we get back to competition golf this weekend as we play the January Medal on Saturday starting at 11am, I look forward to seeing many of you then.
