December Medal Review 

It was a cold but dry day on Saturday for the December Medal and Steve Simmons took first place with 42 points, Steve clearly likes winter season competitions as his last win was in the March Medal and his handicap has now fallen to 17. Steve Hulse got off to a shaky start but he hit some rich form in the middle of his round as he reeled off ten pars and one birdie in the space of twelve holes, even a double bogey on the last didn't stop him winning a card play-off for second place with 40 points.

Lefty Dave Shering is playing some great golf at the moment with the help of his newly custom fitted Titleist 917 woods and he fired three birdies in his score of 40 points in third place. This Saturday we play the fourth round of our Winter League with an 11am start. 




Christmas gift ideas 

There are now just two full weekends before Christmas but there is still plenty of time to get your shopping done and remember that we are open late and if you visit us you won't have to fight through the crowds to get all your gifts. The return of the HACAs 

Forget the golf majors, the big prize that everyone wants to win is a HACA (Hartford's Alternative Club Awards), it was great fun last year to hear your views on who should win and as the year draws to a close we are again asking for nominations for winners in the following categories:

- Best dressed golfer of the year
- Bandit of the year
- Round of the year
- Hacker of the year
- Club thrower of the year

The seniors played a very cold 18 hole Stableford last Tuesday and the golf course was completely frozen - this didn't seem to deter Brian Singleton in any way as he scored a brilliant 46 points including a crucial par on the last hole that helped him beat John Sykes, also with 46 points, in to second place on a card playoff. Third place went to Graham Bower who has been in a rich vein of form recently with 45 points. 

  

A special mention to Phil Pickering who is one of our founding members when the club was formed 15 years ago and he had his first ever hole in one on the 7th hole using his trusty rescue club, Phil was most happy to buy everyone a drink when he finished his round - well done Phil!
