Equipment news
We're excited to link up with local golfer Brett Parker who has a popular YouTube channel called Handicap to Scratch, the channel focuses on regular videos of Brett's quest to get down to a scratch handicap, his first handicap was 14 and he has now worked his way down to 5.6 through regular lessons, club fitting and plenty of practice on our driving range!
Brett's most popular video on YouTube has been watched an amazing 26,539 times so he's very popular!
Brett will be using our facilities to review equipment and showcase our club fitting technology - have a look at his first video review here of the new Titleist 917 D2 drivers here.
Make sure you watch the video to the end as you will notice that Brett will tell you about a nice little offer for all of you to take advantage of, please subscribe to his channel.
Our Greenkeepers track the rainfall on the golf course every single day and it always makes for some interesting reading - June was by far the wettest month of the year so far with 113mm of rain against the average expected rainfall for that month of 58mm. For every month after June things have improved as we've had less rainfall than the expected average so it's been a relatively dry second half of the year. In October we had just 18mm of rain against an expected total of 88mm, traditionally October is the wettest month of the year but surprisingly in 2016 it's been the driest month so far!
The seniors played the second round of their Winter League series last Tuesday and the winner for the second time in a row was Chris Lee with 20 points including a birdie two on the second hole, Chris is the early leader in the seniors Winter League after his two successive first place finishes.
In second place was Andy Goolding who also had 20 points but lost out on a card play-off with third place going to Graham Bower on 19 points.
The ladies played a cold winter Greensomes competition on Thursday, the winning pair were Di Sommerville and Rita Milburn who combined well to score a nett 74.8, second place went to Elspeth Forbes and Pam Till who were exactly one shot back on 75.8 and third place was taken by Ann Broster and Margaret Cherry on 77.4.
