The mornings are definitely turning colder and with the clocks changing this weekend Winter is unfortunately on its way, but this doesn't mean that you have to hibernate, you just need to get the right kit and it's definitely true that the technology in winter clothing has come on leaps and bounds in the last few years and it will keep you warm and comfortable.
One of the hottest brands in golf and sport in general is Under Armour - in this video we show you some essentials from their latest impressive winter collection.
The seniors had to re-arrange their Club Championship for last Tuesday and the wait was definitely worth it for 19 handicapper Chris Coates (pictured) as he scored 39 points, including a birdie on hole 8, to take the victory and get his name on the honours board for the first time with the seniors.
In second place with 37 points was Brian Whitworth whose golf has been better than his football team's performances recently! Third place went to Andy Margeson on 34 points.
A big well done to the ever consistent Alan Nevin who just like a fine wine seems to get better with age! Alan won the Seniors Knockout Trophy after beating John Sykes in a close final on the last hole, Alan also won the Seniors pairs with partner Alan Tayler so he's had a good season.
The new Callaway Big Bertha OS irons are seriously powerful!
We can say this for sure now after the fitting we carried out for Rob Butler on Saturday, Rob is just getting into the game and he had a decent set of off the shelf Callaway X2 Hot irons that were only 2 years old but he had never had a fitting.
Like a lot of high handicap players he had some very destructive shots that were spoiling his game but we soon managed to help him straighten up his ball flight through a few equipment tweaks.
'we soon managed to help him straighten up his ball flight through a few equipment tweaks'
Even though he's only average height we soon found that Rob hit a longer length and more upright 7 iron much better as it allowed him to stand taller at address and not slouch over the ball, as soon as we tried this he picked up club head speed and better distance - in fact he went from 74 mph to 80 mph which is one of the biggest improvements we've seen. Rob's speed was so much quicker that we tried him with a stiff shaft and amazingly his speed went up again to 83 mph and his carry distance went from an average of 131 yards with his own club to 159 yards with the correctly fitted Big Bertha OS iron - 28 yards extra distance!

Not only did Rob pick up incredible distance gains he also improved his shot dispersion so shots were flying straighter as well as longer, before he came in he thought he was Mr. Average and a standard set of clubs would suit him but we soon showed that with the right equipment his good shots were improved but more importantly Rob's bad shots were so much better that he will now hit so many more good shots and enjoy his golf that much more.
