Welcome to our weekly newsletter, the weather has been a bit more mixed over the last couple of days but it's still been busy at the club. It's the US Open this week at Oakmont and it certainly looks like the world's best players will be challenged by a very tough course set up, don't be surprised if the winning score is over par and the cream normally rises to the top, so we're picking Aussie Jason Day as a likely winner. Just how tough is the course set up? Have a look at this video posted by Max Kiefer which shows the frightening speed of the greens! Click here

Maddock Trophy Review
Just a few weeks ago we talked about one of our promising juniors, Ben Barrow, who recently won the Bank Holiday Stableford - well, Ben has now gone one better and he has won a board competition after another brilliant round on Sunday.
12 year old Ben got off to a flying start with 6 pars in his first nine holes to stand on the tenth tee already on 26 points, even though he tired a bit on the back nine he still added another 18 points to amass a 44 point winning total. In the last three weeks Ben's handicap has fallen from 25 to 20 and we're sure this won't be his last victory at Hartford as he is clearly in great form
and a certain star of the future!
In second place was Gemma Davies on 41 points and Wendy Lock came third on 40 points, Wendy got off to a perfect start with a brilliant birdie on the first hole for 5 points!
This Sunday we play another board competition - the Birdie Consulting Scratch Trophy, there is also a prize for the best nett score so it's suitable for everyone and it is again kindly sponsored by member Chris Bird of Birdie Consulting. In true Euro 2016 style we're asking all competitors to dress in the colours of their country on Sunday - let's see your best outfits!
Seniors And Ladies Match
One of the highlights of the season is always the seniors versus ladies match and there was a great turnout of 42 players this year, the seniors won the trophy last year but this time around the ladies fielded a strong team hoping for revenge, in the end it was a close contest but the ladies ended up winning by a score of 5.5 to 4.5. It's the first time the ladies have won the trophy for a good few years and it shows how the ladies section is going from strength to strength, well done ladies!
Thursday Stableford
The ladies played a nine hole Stableford last Thursday and the weather was good, it was a close affair at the top - Collette Walling came out on top just ahead of Ann Broster and then Kath Hough, all three ladies scored 18 points so a card play-off decided the positions.
Monday Stableford
On Monday evening Ann Broster went one better by taking victory in the evening Stableford, she scored 19 points, Jean Clare was second on 17 points and third place went to Chris Paxton also on 17 points.
Captain's Away Day
The lady captains away day at Hill Valley is coming up soon next Tuesday, it's good to see there are 28 ladies playing and it should be a great day organised by Audrey.
