Hello again golfers and welcome to our latest issue, it's been another sunny week here at Hartford with plenty going on and in the golf world it was fantastic to see world number three Rory McIlroy return to winning ways at the Irish Open. McIlroy hasn't been on top form in the last few months but he pulled through when it mattered on Sunday as he hit two of the best fairway wood shots under pressure that we will see all year to turn a one shot deficit into a three shot victory within the space of just three holes.
Have a look here at his stunning shot from Rory into the water guarded par five 18th green to seal his winning eagle.

Barnes Trophy Review
We played our second Major of the season on Saturday and the course was in magnificent condition, the front nine was played through some heavy showers which really tested our competitors but thankfully the sun made an appearance on the back nine. It was 22 handicapper Paul Foster that battled the elements the best with a fine round of nett 65, Paul has been working hard on his game recently with the help of our pro Adam Powell and some new clubs so his first board competition victory was well deserved.
Paul's win was a close one as he just beat in form Ian Daines on a countback, Ian is usually very steady but this round was a bit more up and down as he mixed three birdies with a painful quadruple bogey nine on the difficult twelfth hole. Despite Ian playing the last six holes in one under par gross he couldn't match Paul's better back nine score and he had to settle for runners up position. In third place was Simon Stephenson on nett 68, Simon had a nice birdie on the sixth hole.
Here's Chris Bird in action on the 10th tee.
It's a Bank Holiday weekend so we have a bonus competition on Monday which is an 18 hole Stableford, there's also a pairs competition on Saturday - both start at 12:04pm.
The ladies were due to play an 18 hole Stableford on Sunday but after a heavy shower it was decided to just play nine holes, Wendy Lock has been playing well recently and she came out on top with 18 points, Ann Broster returned from her holidays in good form with 15 points and lady captain Audrey Kettle came third also on 15 points, Audrey also had a brilliant birdie on the second hole.
The ladies next play an 18 hole Stableford this Thursday at 9:24am and it's look there will be another good turnout.

In second place was Andy Goolding on 20 points and third place went to Chris Coates also on 20 points.
