Welcome golfers to our latest newsletter, we've definitely got a Christmas theme this week as we're now only two weeks away from the big day! Again this week we want to provide you with some inspiration if you still need to do some Christmas shopping, remember that we are open all the way up until 5pm on Christmas Eve for those of you looking for last minute gifts.

Christmas opening times

Here is a reminder of the opening times for the shop, golf course and driving range over Christmas: 
Christmas Eve: 8am - 5pm
Christmas Day: closed
Boxing Day: 8am - 5pm
New Year's Eve: 8am - 5pm
New Year's Day: 8am - 5pm

For all other days we will be open at our usual times of 8am - 9pm, so as you can see there should be plenty of chances for you to get some golf in over the Christmas and New Year period!


 

December Medal review

It was a real shame to see the extreme flooding that hit Cumbria and parts of Lancashire over the weekend with over 400mm worth of rain falling in places in the space of just 48 hours, we've been very lucky here as we've avoided most of the deluges and the course is still in great condition - the December Medal was played on Saturday in dry weather but there was a strong wind blowing to challenge our golfers. Chris Newton has not played a great deal of golf this year but he showed that he can still score well when he does play by winning the Medal with a fantastic nett 63 playing off his 13 handicap. Chris' low ball flight obviously suited the windy conditions and he had a very good run of eleven pars in a row which was exceptional on such a tricky scoring day.

In second place was 8 handicapper Martin Major with a nett 67 including a birdie on the fifteenth hole, third place went to inform Dave Shering also on 67, Dave had a birdie on the fourth hole. Interestingly there was only one two scored (showing how tough the course was playing) by our Club Thrower of the year - Simon Stephenson!

Competition news

For those of you that played on Saturday you will have noticed that we now have a new place for you to post your envelopes with your entry fees in and also a new place for the competitions computer - both can now be found in the Conservatory, this will be the location from now on for you to post your envelopes and completed scorecards and also enter your scores for all competitions. The next competition is the Winter League round five on Saturday starting at 12.04pm. A big thank you also on behalf of all the members to George Abbott who runs George's Butchers in Weaverham for his continued support of our Turkey Trot competition coming up on 20th December, first place prize will as usual be a voucher for the best butchers in Cheshire!


 

Seniors Christmas news

Our seniors had some great weather this Tuesday morning for their nine hole game followed by their Christmas lunch party.

There were some great Christmas outfits on show and as you can see from these photographs a very good time was had by all!

The winning pair in the nine hole competition were Geoff Dodd & Paul Green - the festive jumpers must have helped their golf!
